Holiday Spirit

Here it is just weeks away from Christmas again. Personally I love this time of year, not because I like to shop but because there is a magical feeling that makes one feel generally good. For those of you who aren't into Christmas or are offended by the mere talk of it, I suggest you leave. America celebrates many holidays, they are all important to those who celebrate them. The only thing that saddens me a bit is how Americans have been losing the ability to celebrate Christmas in particular. In schools they do not have a Christmas Tree or decorative wreaths. They do not speak of Christmas in fear of offending those who do not celebrate. How have we allowed this to happen? Why is it ok to talk about other non-American holidays, we aren't offended are we? I personally do not find it offensive to hear someone speak of Hanukkah for instance. Why is it offensive to talk about Christmas? Can't we all respect each others traditions and beliefs without excluding our own? I am wondering how long it will be before the Mall Santa is eliminated? To be honest I am surprised they still exist, but glad they do. How confused are little children that have a Christmas tree and decorations of Santa Claus at home, but are told at school that they cannot talk about it or decorate the classroom? The next generation will not even know what the American tradition of Christmas is unless we keep it alive. Merry Christmas everyone!
